Knoppix Linux

While Knoppix is known primarily as a live CD or DVD, you can install it on a hard drive for use as a desktop system as well.

The distribution, named after developer Klaus Knopper, first appearedin 2003. It's based on Debian, and uses the KDE desktop environment.

KNOPPIX is a bootable CD with a collection of GNU/Linux software,automatic hardware detection, and support for many graphics cards,sound cards, SCSI and USB devices and other peripherals. KNOPPIX can beused as a Linux demo, educational CD, rescue system, or adapted andused as a platform for commercial software product demos. It is notnecessary to install anything on a hard disk. Due to on-the-flydecompression, the CD can have up to 2 GB of executable softwareinstalled on it.
